The Sony A7C is Sony’s smallest and lightest full frame hybrid camera which delivers both spectacular photo and video quality. So to get the most out of it you need to know which are the best memory cards for the Sony AC for your particular budget.

If you are tight on time, then I can recommend the best two generalist cards that should should suit most Sony A7C user’s needs.

I do suggest saving this article to read in more depth later so that you can get a more tailored recommendation that will ultimately save you more money in the long run.

The best memory card for the Sony A7C videographer will not be the same as an A7C photographer, and similarly for the A7C hybrid shooter.

Adding to that there are further different use cases of hybrid shooting for example. There will be users with different balances of video and photo.

So whichever use case suits you, we have to go into further detail to work out what the recommended cards are capable of. We can then work out the right card for each use case.

Which Memory Cards Does the Sony A7C Use?

The Sony A7C only supports one SD memory card slot that supports the faster UHS-II SD cards.

While you can use the much slower UHS-I cards and save a bit of money, I will be recommending the UHS-II cards which will be better and more reliable for 4K video recording.

Best Memory Cards for the Sony A7C to Record 4K Video

The Sony A7C can shoot 4K video, with the full width of the full frame sensor when shooting at 24p and a slight crop when filming at 30p.

Do bear in mind, these are approximations of video recording capacities for the different card capacities.

Other factors will always have an effect on the actual recording time. For example battery health and life, environmental factors etc. But in general these approximations are still close enough to work out if the capacities will suit your needs.

The Sony Tough brand is my new favorite brand, although I have nothing but success with my older Sandisk Extreme Pro cards. I have yet to have one fail on me in my 10 years as a professional photographer.

The Other Best Memory Cards for the Sony A7C

While Sony and Sandisk are my favorite brands for memory cards there are always alternative brands who are offering good cards too.

The Sonys just feel more durable and rugged compared to the competition.

Finally

No creator should get the wrong memory card, by either spending more than necessary on too large a capacity card, or just as bad, getting a card too small for your needs.

Too small cards means having to make workarounds for the bottlenecks you will encounter and too large cards are extra money that could be spent on other essential gear.

Get the right card the first time.

Once you have decided on the right card for your needs you will then need an SD card reader to get your data off quickly and efficiently:

Anker 2-in-1 USB 3.0 SD Card Reader for SDXC, SDHC, SD, MMC, RS-MMC, Micro SDXC, Micro SD, Micro SDHC Card and UHS-I Cards
  • Simultaneously read and write on two cards to save yourself the effort of constant unplugging and re-plugging.
  • USB 3.0 enables data transfer rates of up to 5Gbps for faster Sync times, backward compatible with USB 2.0/ 1.1.
